Therapists Bios Our therapists are all independent contractors and Certified Massage Therapists. They are listed here in order of their length of time at Pathways LORI BRETZ graduated from a 1,000 hour massage certification in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1981. She received her first of four REIKI levels and has been doing bodywork and REIKI continuously for 25 years. She was certified in ACUPRESSURE in 1995 and took post graduate courses from the Acupressure Institute in Berkeley. She also does PRENATAL MASSAGE and enjoys practicing YOGA and TAI CHI and working with HERBS. Hours: Mon., Tues., Wed and Friday 5:00-8:00 pm. LITA STONE has had a private massage practice for 20 years. Her massages are intuitive, nurturing, and deeply relaxing, drawing upon over 750 hours of certification training in SWEDISH-ESALEN MASSAGE, ACUPRESSURE, SHIATSU, REIKI MASTER, REFLEXOLOGY AND POLARITY THERAPY. Lita has been involved in the field of Holistic Health for over 25 years, studying nutrition and herbology, Hours Thurs 2-8 pm, Sat 11 am-5 pm PAULA JOHNSTON is a native of England who has been in the U.S. for over 20 years. She attended Harbin School of Shiatsu and Massage. Paula uses very firm pressure while striving to maintain sensitivity to painful areas. She has been actively practicing massage for 10 years. Hours: Mon-Fri. 10-2pm CAROL PORTERFIELD has been at Pathways for over 4 years. She came to us from Hawaii where she attended the Hawaiian Island School of Body Therapy, a 1000 hour program. In her practice she integrates I BODYWORK, REFLEXOLOGY, SWEDISH DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE and INJURY CARE THERAPY. She is also competent in SPORTS MASSAGE and PRENATAL BODYWORK and in doing POSTURAL ASSESSMENTS. Hours: Weds 10 am— 4 pm. GRETCHEN DAVIS worked at the Pebble Beach Spa for 2 years, and has done massage for 12 years, completing over 700 hours of massage training as well as a psychology degree at U C Santa Cruz. She does SWEDISH-ESALEN, DEEP TISSUE, TRIGGER POINT, ACUPRESSURE, SPORTS MASSAGE, REFLEXOLOGY, LOMI-LOMI AND PRENATAL MASSAGE. Hours: Mon 3-8 pm. Thurs 10am-3pm. LILY, a graduate of Harbin School of Shiatsu & Massage (1989) offers an integrated-style session tailored to the concerns and preferences of each client. SHIATSU (sustained pressure on Acu points w/stretches), AMMA (Japanese massage), ACUPRESSURE, DEEP TISSUE, REFLEXOLOGY, QUANTUM TOUCH & THAI MASSAGE are all woven together with a Swedish style that is deeply relaxing. Hours:Mon 11 am– 6, Tues & Friday 10 am 3 pm. Sat 10-3, Sun 11-6. MISTY ALDERMAN, a graduate of the Healing Arts Institute in Roseville, grew up in Angels Camp, CA and is now in Auburn helping run her aunt’s and uncle’s care home. She has practiced massage in Sacramento and Costa Rica. She gives a very nurturing relaxing, therapeutic massage, incorporating SWEDISH DEEP TISSUE, LOMI LOMI, and AROMATHERAPY. She specializes in working out targeted muscular tension. Hours: Wed 2-8 pm, ALISHA CHAVEZ is an Auburn native who graduated from the Auburn School of Health and Wellness. Besides SWEDISH MASSAGE, she has trained in DEEP TISSUE THERAPY, and she also does EAR CANDLING. Her work is well grounded and has a focused, energetic approach. Hours: Tues, Thurs, Friday 10-3, MEGAN SIPHERD is an Auburn native who was raised in a natural health practicing family. She received ESTHETICIAN training at Xenon International in Denver, Colorado where she completed over 650 hours of hands on training, focusing on NATURAL PRODUCTS and AROMA THERAPY. She does HERBAL FACIALS Fridays and is Pathways Office Manager/Receptionist Sun-Wed.. SUZY ZAHROBSKY graduated from Heartwood Institute in 1996 with 900 hours of training in SWEDISH MASSAGE, DEEP TISSUE THERAPY, REFLEXOLOGY, and ZEN SHIATSU ACUPRESSURE. She has an additional 120 hours of training in various ASIAN BODYWORK MODALITIES. The essence of her work adopts an Eastern approach of listening to the body’s energy. Her work varies from light to deep focused pressure in an integrative and intuitive style. Hours: Fri 4-8, Sun 11-6. On call Wed 4—8 pm BERNADETTE COELHO, an Auburn native, graduated from the Auburn School of Health and Wellness. She is trained in SWEDISH MASSAGE and HOT STONE THERAPY. She also has experience in SENIOR MASSAGE. She is intuitive in her work and she offers a grounded and nurturing massage. Hours: Sun 11-6, Thurs 10-4, l Fri. 10 -3 DEBI CHAVEZ graduated from the National Holistic Institute in Emeryville, Ca. She brings 18 years of intensive bodywork experience to her work. Her predominant style is CORRECTIVE DEEP TISSUE EXTRACTION, and she incorporates ACUPRESSURE, SPORTS MASSAGE and INTUITIVE STYLE. Her philosophy is to locate problems areas, provide relief through muscular education and to restore the body to a state of balance. Hours: Thrus 2-8 pm Fri 10 am-5 pm. Sat 10 am-4 pm. On Call Wed 10 am-2 pm, HOLLY SLAATS graduated from Northwestern College and is certified in DEEP TISSUE SWEDISH, SHIATSU, PRENATAL, and TRIGGER POINT THERAPY. She focuses on individual client’s needs and regulates her work to match the needs of her clients. Hours: Sun 11-6, Tues 3-8, Thurs 5-8. DEBRA BARBARICK began her lifelong passion for the healing arts in Brazil in 1975 where she studied with and assisted traditional healers throughout Brazil and the rainforests of French Guiana and Surinam for over 29 years. From that experience she offers deep massage and bodywork that supports her clients intrinsic capacity to move toward health, well being and balance. She also has more that 550 hours of massage training in Brazil and the U. S. and brings together in her work ACUPRESSURE, SWEDISH, CRANIAL SACRAL BALANCING, ESALAN, DEEP TISSUE, TRIGGER POINT, and REIKI. Hours: Mon 10-5, Tues 4-8, Sat 3-8, Sun 12-6. MONICA TOMASI incorporates an intuitive approach with AYURVEDIC principles. She perfected CRAINALSACRAL work at Heartwood Institute after studying DEEP TISSUE & PRENATAL MASSAGE at the Healing Arts Institute in Roseville. She is currently attending the California College of Ayurveda and has knowledge of natural foods and herbs. She is offering AYURVEDIC FACIALS and EAR CANDLING.: Hours Thurs 3 -8 pm, Fri 10 am- 4 pm. JESSICA DAWSON trained in SWEDISH and DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE at the Healing Arts Institute in Roseville. She is also a licensed ESTHETICIAN and does soothing HERBAL FACIALS. Her concern for health, nutrition, and balanced living has inspired her to work on several organic farms, and led her to assisting clients in breathing, opening, releasing pain, and feeling a sense of peace. Hours Thurs 10-3, Sat. 3-8 pm. COLLEEN PIERCE, A well experienced therapist and professional care giver who blends here well practiced modalities to the needs of her clients. From nurturing SWEDISH to focused DEEP TISSUE work, Pathways is fortunate to share it’s space with this talented therapists. Hours Sat 3-8, Mon 10-5. JOY CURRY (owner) is beginning her 17th year at Pathways. She serves as Pathways Therapist Resource Director, and she can be thanked for selecting the many wonderful therapists at Pathways. Her oil paintings and intuitive art can be seen at Pathways JOEL “JODY” CURRY (owner) combines his experience as a trained social worker with his 30 year study of natural health. He continues to do BOWEN THERAPY, ACUPRESSURE and MASSAGE. Hours:Tues11-5pm. Wed 2-8 pm.
